The number of group members: One of the points to know is the capacity of the group members.

The maximum number of group members on Instagram is 32. Well, it can be said that this is one of the disadvantages of group chatting on Instagram. Telegram has set the maximum number to 200 members. For this reason, if you want to have a large group chat, I recommend using Telegram and using Instagram for family, friends, and colleagues groups.

How to Make Group on Instagram Android📱

1- The first step to creating a group on Instagram is to download and install the latest version of Instagram from Google Play or reputable sources.

2- Then open the Instagram app and click on the Direct icon on the top right of the page, as shown in the image below.

3- Then, like the picture below, click on the + icon at the bottom right of the page. (This icon may be different on some phones; it may look like a sheet of paper and a pen for you.)

4- On this page, tick each person you want to be in the group from the list provided to add them to your group’s member list. You can also search for the desired person in the Search section and add them to your group.

To add contacts to the group, click on them, and a blue checkmark will appear. This checkmark indicates that these people will enter the chat. After selecting your contacts, click on the Chat icon on the top right of the page.

Then you will enter the group page.

In the following article, I will provide you with a comprehensive tutorial on adding a profile picture for the group, adding a name for the group, customizing the group, adding and removing members, and the relevant settings for the group.

Adding a name for the group on Instagram: After creating a group on Instagram, group administrators can select or change the name of the group, as shown in the image below, at the top of the page.

Adding a profile picture for the group: Adding a profile picture for the group is not difficult at all. Simply click on the name of the group, then click on the “Change Group Photo” option on the page that opens, and select the desired image for the group.

Group notification settings: All group members can personalize the Instagram group notifications according to their needs, which I will explain to you below.

To mute group notifications, as shown in the image below, go to the Details section and activate the “Mute Messages” option.

Note: Notifications are only muted on your phone.

When someone tags or mentions you in a group, you receive a notification. If you do not want to receive notifications related to tagging, go to the Details section and activate the “Mute Mention” option, as shown in the image below, to disable notifications related to tagging.

If group members share video calls or video chats, you receive a notification similar to a phone call. To mute video call notifications, go to the Details section and activate the “Mute Call Notifications” option (which may be called “Mute Video Chats” for you).

Settings for adding new members to the group: After creating a group on Instagram, other group members can invite new people to the chat. If you want the admin’s permission before adding new members, the “Approval Required to join” option must be enabled, as shown in the image.

If this option is enabled, when a member invites someone to the group, the notification appears on the chat main page for the group admins, and they can accept or reject the request. These requests are also displayed in the Requests section.

To activate this option, first, go to the Details section, then activate the “Approval Required to join” option.

Changing the group theme: One of the attractive features that become available to you after creating a group on Instagram is customizing the chat theme.

To customize the background of the group chat, go to the Details section, click on the Theme option under Chat Settings, select your desired background according to your taste, and enjoy chatting.

Adding new members: To add a new member, go to the Details section, click on the “Add People” option under Members, find the person you want to add, and invite them to the group.

Note: If you add a new person to the group, they can read all previous group messages.

Removing members from the group: If you ever want to remove someone from the group or if someone is bothering you among the group members, you can kick them out of the group. However, this feature is only available to group admins.

To remove someone from the group, go to the Details section, scroll up to the list of group members, find the person you want to remove, click on the three dots next to their name, and finally click on the “Remove User” option to kick them out of the group.

Adding an admin to the group: By making someone an admin, they have the ability to change the group name, profile picture, and member permissions. In other words, all group permissions are also granted to the new admin.

To make someone an admin, go to the Details section, scroll up to the list of group members, find the person you want to make an admin, click on the three dots next to their name, and finally click on the “Make Admin” option to add them to the list of group admins. To remove someone from the admin position, do the same thing and click on the “Remove as Admin” option.

Blocking and reporting group members: The “Restrict” option limits the selected person’s chat ability in the group while still being a part of it.

The “Block” option blocks and restricts the selected person from the group. With blocking someone, they are not removed from the group and can still be present and chat in it.

The “Report” option is for reporting someone on Instagram. For example, if someone violates rules in the group, you can report them so that Instagram can investigate and penalize them.

Leaving the group: To leave the group, go to the Details section and click on the “Leave Chat” option at the bottom of the page.

Who has seen your message?

One of the attractive features of creating a group on Instagram is that you can find out who has viewed your message. This feature is a winning card for Instagram compared to other social networks. When you send a message in a group, you can see which members of the chat have viewed your message. This feature is updated by being connected to the internet.

To see who has seen your message, simply look at the bottom of your message, like the picture below, where the user names who have viewed your message come in the form of … seen by.

Who has liked your message?

Another attractive feature of Instagram is that you can find out who has liked your message in an Instagram group. When you send a message in a group, you can see which members of the chat have liked your message. This feature is updated by being connected to the internet.

To see who has liked your message, simply click on your message, and the usernames of those who have liked your message will be displayed on the opened page.

Message sending date and time

To find out at what time of day your message was sent, simply swipe your finger from right to left on the chat page to display the Message sending time.

Deleting a sent message

If you want to delete a message you have sent, simply hold your finger on the desired message and press the Unsend option.

Video call in a group

To make a video call in a group, simply press the video icon on the top right of the screen. After starting the video call, the announcement will be sent to all members of the group, and if they wish, they can join the video call.

How to Make a Group on Instagram on PC 💻

So far, we have learned how to create an Instagram group on a phone. Now, let’s learn how to create an Instagram group on a computer.

1- The first step to creating a group on the desktop is to log in to the Instagram website.

Then, log in to your account and click on the airplane icon to enter your direct messages (the second icon on the top right side of the page next to the home icon).

2- Then, click on the pencil and paper icon on the top right side of the page.

3- On this page, a list of your followers will be displayed, and you can select the people you want and add them to the group or search for the desired person’s ID and add them to the group.

4- On this page, select the IDs of the desired people and click on Next.

Then, you will enter the group page.

Note: At this stage, you must send a message to create the group. Your group has been created now, and you can chat with your friends 🙂

By the way, in the created chat, you can share your text messages, images, stories, and posts.

To go to the group settings, click on the! icon on the top right side of the page.

To change the name of the group, first, go to the Details section and choose a name for your group in the Group Name section at the top of the page.

To mute the group notifications, go to the Details section and activate the Mute Messages option.

To add a new member, first, go to the Details section, then click on the blue Add People option in the Members section and find your members and add them to the group.

To remove any person from the group, first, go to the Details section, then click on the three dots next to that person, and finally, click on the Remove From Group option to remove that person from the group.

Note: Only group admins can remove members.

To make members admin, first, go to the Details section, then click on the three dots next to that person, and finally, click on the Make Admin option to add that person to the list of group admins. To remove someone from admin, do the same thing again and click on the Remove as Admin option.

To leave the group, first, go to the Details section, then click on the Leave Chat option at the bottom of the page.

Deleting the group

To delete the group, first, go to the Details section, then click on the last option, “Delete Chat,” at the bottom of the page to completely delete your group.

Note: This option is not available on the Instagram app.
